Abstract

We exploit the results of a recent calculation of first-order QCD corrections to direct lepton production. As a signature of W ± production in pp scattering we present various aspects of the single lepton inclusive cross section including the forward-backward asymmetry. Predictions for polarized proton beams are also made. For Z 0 a better signal is obtained when both leptons are detected. We discuss QCD corrections as well as polarization effects for this channel also. The weak boson production in pp collisions is discussed in the appendix.
