Abstract

The reactionpd → π−ppp has been investigated in a line reversed hydrogen bubble chamber experiment using 3.3GeV/c deuteron beam. The observed spectra are very well reproduced by a parameter free model based on impulse approximation. When kinematical cuts are introduced to suppress quasi-free processes, the effective mass distribution of the pion and the two slowest protonsM(π−pp) exhibits two narrow enhancements at 2199MeV/c2 and 2258MeV/c2 which are not accounted for by our model and might be considered as candidates for dibaryonic resonances.
