Abstract

It is pointed out that the relative importance of the imaginary part of the effective interaction for inelastic scattering of light complex projectiles can be determined by observing the interference between the nuclear and Coulomb parts of the interaction. The 208Pb(h, h′) reaction at 47.5 MeV is used as an example.
