Abstract

We report a series of attenuated total reflection (ATR) measurements on a multiply Si δ-doped GaAs sample. A number of surface plasmon modes are observed, coupled to the GaAs phonons. A good description of the observed modes is obtained by considering the superlattice as a single uniaxial medium whose dielectric tensor has principal components determined using a bulk slab model. The position of the modes is sensitive to the distribution of free carriers between wells and barriers.
