Abstract

A simultaneous measurement system for a sonoluminescing bubble oscillation and radiated shock wave from the bubble is presented. It enables high-resolution and high-speed imaging. The nonlinear bubble oscillation and the shock wave generated at the moment of bubble collapse are observed by acoustical and optical measurements. In particular, a spherical propagation of the shock wave is optically observed by the schlieren method.
