Abstract

Abstract We report on the first experimental observation of the liquid phase of a quantum-confined electron-hole plasma. We give strong evidence for the condensation of electron-hole droplets in a type-II GaAs/AlAs short-period quantum-well wire superlattice grown on a high-index (311) GaAs-substrate surface by demonstrating the characteristic criteria for a liquid phase in photoluminescence experiments.
