Abstract

It is shown experimentally that the characteristics of structural ion-acoustic turbulence in a plasma are governed primarily by the development of density gradient-driven drift oscillations. The cyclicity of appearance and disappearance of drift wave packets and ensembles of ion-acoustic solitons in a steady-state turbulent plasma, as well as the correlation between them, is determined.
