Abstract
The luminescence spectrum with a maximum near 1.96 eV of the well-known organic donor compound, bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF), has been observed with 2.54 eV laser excitation. At liquid He temperature the emission signal is strong; its intensity rapidly decreases with heating of the sample as well as a modification of the degree of oxidation of molecules forming the crystal and is very weak in the case of monovalent (BEDT-TTF)Br salt. The shape of the luminescence spectra correlates with absorption data of the investigated compounds.
