Abstract
The first observation of folded-zone longitudinal acoustic phonons in the novel amorphous Se x Te y /CdSe superlattices is reported. Phonon propagation is described quantitatively in the elastic continuum limit. The elastic constant of the amorphous Se x Te y sublayers is determined.
