Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of anterior cervical zero cut interbody fusion and internal fixation on single segment cervical disc herniation. Methods Forty patients with single segment cervical disc herniation who were treated in the People’s Central Hospital of Zhanjiang from October 2016 to February 2018 were selected. And they were randomly divided into control group (20 cases) and observation group (20 cases). Patients in control group were treated by traditional fusion plate internal fixation, while patients in observation group were treated by anterior cervical zero cut interbody fusion and internal fixation. Then, the treatment effects of two groups were compared and analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in clinical effect between observation group and control group (P>0.05). The Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores in observation group were not significantly differ from those in control group before operation and 6 months after operation (P>0.05). The thickness of anterior vertebral soft tissue in observation group was significantly lower than that in control group 6 months after operation, and the incidences of dysphagia and adjacent segment degeneration in observation group were also lower than those in control group (P<0.05). Conclusions The anterior cervical zero cut interbody fusion and internal fixation in clinical treatment of single segment cervical disc herniation can achieve the same clinical effect as traditional fusion plate internal fixation surgery. But the former can reduce the thickness of anterior vertebral soft tissue, reduce incidence of dysphagia, adjacent segment degeneration. It has more application advantages, thus it is worth promoting. Key words: Anterior Cervical zero cut interbody fusion and internal fixation; Cervical disc herniation; Plate internal fixation; Dysphagia; Adjacent segment degeneration
