Abstract

Resonant and nonresonant magnetic x-ray scattering measurements have been carried out on a single crystal of ${\mathrm{TbCu}}_{2}{\mathrm{Ge}}_{2}.$ dc susceptibility measurements on single crystals clearly showed two transitions at ${T}_{N}=12.3 \mathrm{K}$ and ${T}_{t}=9.6 \mathrm{K}.$ The temperature dependence of both the resonant and nonresonant magnetic scattering were fit self-consistently and revealed a reorientation of the moments in the basal plane from $[110]$ below ${T}_{t},$ to $[010]$ for temperatures ${T}_{t}<T<{T}_{N}.$ The temperature dependence of the rotation angle has been extracted based on a simple model for the magnetic structure.
