Abstract

C-axis oriented YBa 2Cu 3O 7 films were charged with hydrogen at 460 K and a H 2 pressure of 100 mbar. The hydrogen concentration and depth distribution was measured by the 15N nuclear reaction method. At an average hydrogen concentration of two H-atoms per unit cell YBa 2Cu 3O 7, a single phase with a c-axis of c = 1.365 nm is observed in the X-ray diffraction. We propose as an explanation that the c-axis oriented YBa 2Cu 3O 7 layers are expanded by 16% by the hydrogen uptake.
