Abstract

ABSTRACT The SHG interference microscope was applied to the observation ofthe ferroelectric 1800 domain structure along the axial direction in a y-cut MgO:LiNhO3. Using four different SHG interference images with phase difference of 0, zr , + /2, and — n- /2, the special functions of the SHU intensities were calculated in the so-called -plane, from which the 3D-domain structure was successfully obtained.Keywords: SHG interference microscope, Ferroelectric domain structure, MgO:LiNbO3, Domain reversal IOINTRODUCTION Using the SHO interference microscope, we have already succeeded in observing domain reversal process in MgO:LiNbO3under the pulsed-elecfric field . However, its observation was limited to the two-dimensional one. Similar restriction existsin other conventional methods such as AFM.
