Abstract
Quality assurance in higher education includes the question of the ratio between direct and indirect higher education teaching. The didactic innovation flipped learning and teaching, which is being intensely researched in international university settings, enables the higher education teacher to carry out student grouping in a more flexible and innovative manner. This can contribute to student’s self-regulation of study, cognitive activity, improvement of academic achievements, and more appropriate time burden. It can also facilitate student’s higher conceptions of knowledge and collaborative skills. In this article, the authors define the advantages and disadvantages of various student groupings and explain flipped learning and teaching.

Summary
Ključne besede: higher education didactics, indirect and direct higher education teaching, student grouping, flipped learning and teaching. Temeljna vloga visokošolskega učitelja je torej spodbujanje in izboljševanje učenja študentov (Radovan in Makovec, 2015; Šteh in Kalin, 2008; Trigwell, 2008), omogočanje pogojev za njihovo kakovostno učenje, to pa vključuje po eni strani pedagoško premišljeno presojanje in izbiranje (z vidika različnih dejavnikov, kot so cilji oziroma pričakovane kompetence, značilnosti študentov itd.) najustreznejših pristopov, ki jih bo učitelj uporabil pri svojem poučevanju, po drugi strani pa nenehno reflektiranje kakovosti študijskega procesa Posebno pozornost bomo namenili tudi obrnjenemu učenju in poučevanju, didaktični inovaciji, ki visokošolskemu učitelju omogoča izpeljavo učnih oblik na bolj prožen in inovativen način in s tem prispeva k študentovi samoregulaciji učenja, miselni aktivnosti, višjim učnim dosežkom, ustreznejši časovni obremenitvi, prav tako lahko spodbuja višja pojmovanja znanja pri študentih in razvija njihove sodelovalne spretnosti
