Abstract

The article is concerned with those aspects of Polish phraseology that are related to politeness and rudeness (linguistic and non-linguistic). It aims to show what behaviours constitute the linguistic and cultural image of politeness. That image contains socially desirable human traits that we would classify today as both linguistic etiquette and the ethics of language use.
