Abstract

Points out the possibility of using a lens system involving electric and magnetic fields which has been used successfully to image electrons in an oblique electron multiplier array device (Johnson and Hallam 1973). The oblique nature of this crossed field device is useful in eliminating difficulties with irradiation of the surface to be investigated with charged particles or photons.
