Abstract

An architectureloperating system simulation package has been designed, developed, and used at Oklahoma State University for the past several years both as a research tool and a vehicle to teach operating systems concepts. mis paper reports on the enhancement of the objectoriented simulation package to aid in modeling objectbased computer architectures. lhis new version of the package allows the modeling of architectures that use selfidentifiing data. A two-tiered instruction set is wed to allow von Neumann architectures to be modeled using only the lower tier instruction set, while facilitating the modeling of object-based architectures by using the highlevel instruction set.
