Abstract

User participation in information systems development (ISD) is studied. Participation is often offered as one solution in developing good computer-based information systems. However, the benefits of user participation have not been shown very well. We present a frame of reference that helps us to analyse the success of user participation in ISD. The article reveals the importance of a level-based analysis when an ISD project and user participation are designed.
