Abstract

AbstractThis research objectively examined the attitudes of 151 post-abortion women, three to four weeks after their abortions. A Likert-type attitude scale and a variable data sheet were administered to each subject. An analysis of variance and a post hoc LSD were computed for the categories within each variable to determine the statistical significance of the differences in mean attitude scores. The 151 women had a mean attitude score on the positive end of the attitude continuum, and eleven variables were related to post abortion attitude. Most of the women felt relieved after their abortion, the most emotionally difficult time being the weeks preceding the abortion. The majority of women did not indicate the need for additional counseling and received their primary emotional support from their male partner.
