Abstract

Emerging standards for Open Distributed Processing will rely on object-oriented modelling and specification techniques. The RM-ODP defines a basic object model that captures the essence of what it means to be object-oriented. The RM-ODP then extends the basic model to several different modelling domains (called viewpoints). This article contains an introduction to the RM-ODP approach, the contents of the basic object model and its viewpoint specializations.
