Abstract

Endometrial Stromal Cell (ESC) decidualization is the process by which ESCs undergo morphologic and functional change in order to differentiate into decidual cells and become receptive to embryonic implantation. This process is metabolically regulated and defective decidualization can lead to infertility and poor pregnancy outcomes. Autophagy is the process of intracellular recycling and a critical regulator of cellular metabolism. In addition, autophagy has been shown to be defective in obese tissue.
