Abstract
Polyneuropathy is characterized by sensory symptoms in the distal parts of the limbs, such as sensory loss, paresthesia and burning pain.1 Etiologies for polyneuropathy are numerous, including diabetes mellitus, and alcohol abuse.2 Disorders of sensory nerve function in polyneuropathy depend on the type of afferent nerve fibers that are affected. Small fiber neuropathy (SFN) is defined as a structural abnormality of small nerve fibers with the degeneration of the distal terminations of Aδ and C nerve fibres.
