Abstract

Various scoring methods are used for prognosis prediction of cancer patients, but most are limited to medium- to short-term prognosis prediction (few months to few weeks). Daily ultra-short-term prognosis prediction indicators have not yet been established. Prognosis prediction in such cases is often subjectively evaluated based on the signs of near-death, but the modified early warning score (MEWS) is frequently used not only for cancer patients but also in hospitals in Japan and overseas as a numerical index to determine changes in patients' condition.
