Abstract
Chronic pain is a complex, multisymptomatic disorder. The chronic pain cycle (CPC) deteriorates sleep1, energy, mood, emotional, physical, and psychosocial well-being2. This coupled with poor pain relief and opioid use results in exacerbation of diffuse hyperalgesic symptoms3. Treating the CPC through interventional technologies like spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is not well-understood. Randomized or prospective studies typically target pain-relief. Very little is known about the impact of the resulting pain-relief on the other debilitating chronic pain symptoms.
