Abstract

SUMMARY: In survival analysis and reliability studies it is common we find data sets where several failure causes competing between themselves to cause the occurrence of the event of interest, such as the patient death or the failure of a certain component. However, in many experiments the cause of the patient death or the failure of the component can be unknow, leading to the latent competing risk problems. This kind of data can be modeled through the poly-log-logistic model, in particular, if the risk function is multimodal.
