Abstract

This study shows how the animated film Monsters, Inc. can be used as a tool for teaching management. By metaphors, presented in the plot of animated films, the main concepts of organizations theory can be taught and learned. The study presents theoretical learning concepts in management, the use of art and film for teaching this area of knowledge, the animated film and the process for human being identification with images. The qualitative method used was based on theoretical and exploratory study. For methodological procedures, the study was based on Aumont (1990) and, for movies analysis, Vergara’s (2012) use of metaphors was addressed. From this analysis perspective, it was possible to offer new ways of considering business management teaching using animated movies as an educational resource. This method can add a deep knowledge to organizational concepts, offering new perspectives in this area of knowledge. We conclude, through the study, that animated movies are an art that operates a simple language, which helps personal or academic issues comprehension. The use of animated film in the classroom makes learning more playful and facilitates comprehensive and grasping Management concepts.
