Abstract

One can advance from the theological debate to a practical experience of faith in the public sphere. And, to do so, Christianity may seek a foundation which is at the origin of their faith. In the ecological perspective, the theology of creation enables talking about a Cultural Mandate of God. From literature, based on the early chapters of Genesis, we seek to rescue the concept of Cultural Mandate in order to contribute to a global awareness. Considering the influence of Greek dualism, turning to the Hebrew tradition means taking on the challenge of a full understanding of reality. Brazilian Christians can take concrete steps on the understanding that all are responsible for the creation of God. Human intervention actually pressuposes responsibility and care. There is inconsistency between the teachings of the Holy book of the Christians and the faithful practice of the day to day concerning the human relationship with the created world, revealing challenges to theology.
