Abstract

This study discusses the introduction of Modern Physics in High School considering a historical-philosophical approach. The historical-philosophical approach allows the teachers to discuss the political and socio-cultural context of science and show that the subjects studied at school are linked. Considering these aspects, the survey aims to answer the question: what are the issues from the spectroscopy teaching in a historical-philosophical approach that could complement the study of atomic model taught in Chemistry classes? In order to perform this survey, a didactic sequence for High School students was developed. Qualitative methodology was used to analyze the data collected. The analyses show that the spectroscopy teaching in Physics classes could raise important questions to the study of atomic model developed in chemistry classes.
