Abstract
Este artigo apresenta o envolvimento de John Wesley, sacerdote anglicano e spiritus rector do movimento metodista no século 18, na luta abolicionista, desde as suas influências familiares e suas experiências com a instituição da escravidão até a criação de uma rede de contestadores que resultou em uma ação política orquestrada, já sob a liderança de uma nova geração.
