Abstract

This article proposes to develop an analysis of the behavior displayed by members of international terrorist networks, in particular those of an Islamic extremist nature, from the perspective of psychoanalytic doctrine. Based on what is known about the psyche of Islamic radicals, he defends the hypothesis of a traumatic childhood added to manipulation, extremist religious ideologization and the lack of filters, factors that lead to an imbalance of psychic instances, emphasizing primitive instincts of aggression and violence. The approach to the theme is challenging and becomes relevant in view of the attacks carried out by such networks, which have a high number of victims and a flagrant lack of empathy for the suffering of others, bordering on perversions such as sadism.
