Abstract
O presente trabalho analisa o convento de S. Francisco de Jesus de Monção na Idade Moderna, dando particular relevo aos aspetos relacionados com a vida em clausura, mas estudando também a fundação da instituição e a sua passagem de recolhimento a convento, as admissões, os dotes pagos, as fontes definanciamento e o dinheiro dado a juro. Com as fontes disponíveis, foi possível acompanhar uma instituição desde a sua fundação até ao seu encerramento e compreender a dinâmica de uma instituição feminina de clausura numa terra de fronteira.
