Abstract

In the present work, we have measured the O 2- and air-broadening coefficients of, respectively, 19 and 26 absorption lines in the ν 9 band of ethane at room temperature, using a tunable diode-laser spectrometer. For each line under study, we have recorded spectra at 5–10 pressures of perturber gas ranging from 3 to 22 mbar. The line profiles have been fitted, at each pressure, with different line shape models. From these fits, we have obtained the collisional half-width at each pressure and then determined accurately the O 2- and air-broadening coefficients. Finally, our results for the air-broadening coefficients are compared with calculated values using the N 2- and O 2-broadening coefficients measured previously.
