Abstract

Abstract Timo Ramu unexpectedly discovered, through a DNA test meant for a lighthearted exploration of ethnicity, that he was donor-conceived. From initially thinking he had no biological siblings, he found out he had 50 and counting. This revelation shocked his family and shattered his sense of identity. His parents, in trying to shield him, denied him knowledge of his true origin. He grapples with the implications of living in a "fantasy" crafted by others. The talk touches upon the importance of biological connections, the distinctions between biological and social relationships, and the profound impacts of withheld truths on trust and self-awareness.
