Abstract

Analysis for electromagnetic (EM) scattering by inhomogeneous or anisotropic objects relies on the solutions of volume integral equations (VIEs) in the integral equation approach. The VIEs are usually solved by the method of moments (MoM) in which the volume currents are represented with the Schaubert-Wilton-Glisson (SWG) basis function. It is found that the implementation of the MoM for the inhomogeneous anisotropic objects is inconvenient due to the features of the basis function. In this work, we develop an efficient Nystrom scheme as an alternative to solve the VIES for those objects. A numerical example for EM scattering by an inhomogeneous anisotropic block is presented to demonstrate the scheme.
