Abstract
This study evaluates the effects of anemia on plasma lipoperoxidation levels in anemic sheep. A total of 30 animals were investigated, of which 10 were healthy and 20 were anemic according to clinical examination confirmed by haematological analysis. Jugular venous blood samples (10mL) were collected from each animal. These were stored in heparin and EDTA tubes (5mL each) to determine Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and haematological profile, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in TBARS concentrations of healthy and anemic sheep. Therefore, we conclude that anemia does not lead to lipoperoxidation.
