Abstract

Esophageal cancer is one of the common malignancies of upper digestive tract in China. The esophagus is the entrance of food and nutrition intake, hence cachexia is prevalence in esophageal cancer patients due to the impact of tumor on feeding. Standardized nutrition support may play a very important role in the treatment of esophageal cancer. However, there has not been a consensus on the effective nutrition support for esophageal cancer patients. In this article, we elaborated and analyzed the nutritional screening, support approaches, and nutrition preparation/formula, aiming to summarize a standardized protocol for nutrition support in esophageal cancer patients.
