Abstract
This study evaluated the nutritional and therapeutic potential of Ficus auriculata fruit through proximate and phytochemical analyses. Proximate analysis showed high water content (83.58 ± 0.58%) followed by carbohydrate (10.90 ± 0.40%), fiber (2.14 ± 0.11%), ash (1.45 ± 0.04%), and fat (0.56 ± 0.02%). Mineral content analysis showed high potassium content (1505.16 ± 10.39 mg per 100 g dry weight) followed by magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, and phosphorus. Sugar content was 9.98 ± 0.46%, and vitamin C content was 18.40 ± 4.01 mg/100 g dry weight. Phytochemical analysis revealed total phenolic content of 27.59 ± 0.32 mg GAE/g, total flavonoid content of 4.07 ± 0.12 mg QE/g, and antioxidant activity of 1641.33 ± 77.7 µg/mL. The fruit’s high nutritional content may make it a good option for fulfilling human nutrient requirements, despite its weak medicinal properties. Further studies are needed to uncover other potential nutrients.
