Abstract
Rationale: Over 25% of community-dwelling adults in the United States are at high nutrition risk and experience poor health and economic outcomes. Nutrition programs in hospitals and post-acute care settings have been found to be highly effective in alleviating the burden of poor nutrition. Conversely, few studies have evaluated the impact of such programs in outpatient cohorts. We assessed the feasibility and impact of a nutrition quality improvement program (QIP) on the healthcare resource use in outpatient populations at nutrition risk.
