Abstract

Objective To understand the nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice of main caregivers among pregnant women in trimester and its related factors so as to provide a basis and basic data for health education. Methods From April to June 2017, we selected 180 main caregivers of pregnant women with regular examination in trimester in Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at first and second trimester at a ClassⅢ Grade A hospital in Beijing. The field investigation was carried out with the Pregnant Nutrition Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior Questionnaire in Prenatal Diet of Main Caregivers. A total of 180 questionnaires were sent out and 153 valid questionnaires were collected. The descriptive analysis and correlation analysis were used to statistical analysis of survey data. Results Among 153 main caregivers of pregnant women, the total score of the nutrition knowledge, attitude and behavior questionnaire was (5.69±2.00) , and the scores of basis nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice were (16.61±4.30) , (10.38±1.50) and (5.69±2.00) respectively. Five items with high scores were 99.3% of caregivers of pregnant women thought rational diet had an important role in health of fetuses, 94.1% of them thought the birth weight of neonate was not the heavier the better, 92.4% of them accompanied pregnant women to do antenatal care, 92.2% of them knew food which were with excellent vitamin C, 92.2% of them understand pregnant nutrition knowledge and sought related information forwardly. Which way they hope most to gain nutrition knowledge was by medical workers (61.7%) . Conclusions Main caregivers of pregnant women are with the good level of nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice with the relatively weak nutrition knowledge. Schools for pregnant women should include main caregivers into the main educational objects to enrich pregnant women pregnant nutrition knowledge and ensure the safety of mother and baby.
