Abstract
ABSTRACT Picture a beautiful, large, coffee-table book, with an arresting dust jacket, that deals with artifacts, rare books, prints, and stamps concerned with children from 1000 BCE to modern times. That describes Nurturing Yesterday's Child. Moreover, it is graced with a literate text, several hundred color illustrations, a bibliography, and an adequate index.The book is presented by two members of the staff of The Museum of the History of Medicine, Academy of Medicine, Toronto, Canada. This institution received from the estate of Dr T. G. H. Drake, who died in 1959, a unique collection of material dealing with children through the ages. Dr Drake was a pediatrician and the principal developer of Pablum, the first solid food fed to millions of children in this century. His collection, perhaps the largest of its kind in the world, contains over 1000 artifacts, 1500 rare books, 1000 coins and medals, and about 1000
