Abstract
Following the Chancellor's Budget announcement, speculation on how and where the extra NHS dosh could, and should, be spent has led to horror stories about wanton waste. Tales of reckless, oak-panelled, extravagance have been rife, though in truth, we all know that the pre-exis-tent backlogs and deficits, unpaid bills and inflationary pressures could consume many times the extra cash promised.
