Abstract

After a brief description of twointermediate theories, transition theory developed by Afaf Ibrahim Meleis and uncertainty management theory in healthcare by Merle H. Mishel, the article illustrates their concrete use in healthcare practice. To this end, two clinical situations in pediatrics are presented, for each of which the needs of the patient, his or her family and environment are identified, followed by proposals for nursing interventions based on these theories.
