Abstract

Intervertebral disc (IVD) disease is the most common spinal disease in dogs. The veterinary nurse plays an important role in treating patients with this disease, as good nursing care and physiotherapy are paramount for ensuring a satisfactory clinical outcome. In the second of two articles, Clare Rusbridge discusses aspects of nursing the spinal patient. Pathophysiology, clinical signs and treatment of IVD disease were reviewed in the last issue.
