Abstract

Objective To prepare the questionnaire for Knowledge-Attitude-Practice of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) for nurses in tumor hospital, and to test its reliability and validity. Methods Based on Knowledge-Attitude-Practice theory, a questionnaire was compiled based on literature reading, group discussion and expert consultation. A stratified cluster sampling method was used to extract 311 nurses from a three-tumor hospital, Department of oncology and gynecology. The reliability was tested by Cronbach's alpha coefficient, test-retest reliability and split half reliability. The content validity and exploratory factor analysis were used to test the validity of the questionnaire. Results This questionnaire has 55 items. The principal component analysis extracts 5 public factors, including the CINV related definition, the influence factors of CINV, the drug and non drug control methods of CINV, the attitude of CINV and the CINV behavior, and the cumulative contribution rate was 52.99%, and the common variance of each project was more than 0.4. The total questionnaire internal consistency reliability and split half reliability were 0.949 and 0.941. Conclusion The questionnaire on Knowledge-Attitude-Practice of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting of nursing staff has good reliability and validity. It can be used as a reliable tool for the investigation of chemotherapy related knowledge, attitude and behavior of nursing staff in cancer specialist hospital and the investigation of influencing factors. Key words: Chemotherapy; Nausea and vomiting; Knowledge-attitude-practice; Reliability; Validity
