Abstract

PLASTIC SURGERY deals with the repair of defects and malformations, with the restoration of function and the improvement of appearance. As no two cases of plastic surgery are alike, the nursing care cannot be governed by any routine. The nurse must understand what the surgeon is endeavoring to accomplish. Results are sometimes very slow, and in these cases the building up of the general condition, the mental outlook, and the routine care of the patient present as many problems as the operation itself.
