Abstract
Novice nurses and dose calculation competency were considered a concern at the advisory board for the associate degree nursing program. This Evidenced Based Research project aims to evaluate the skill set being developed in the classroom and clinical setting to build mastery level and confidence in the novice nurse and dose calculation using the Five Star ACE Model, focusing on moving research to practice. Synthesis of the data, provided systemic review, determines the gaps. Integrate and hard wire the findings and evaluate for the expected outcome. The expected outcome is the pass of all students in all four semesters for dose calculation, including with high-stakes medications. Quality is the most challenging element nurses must evaluate when assessing the strength of evidence for a topic. Quality refers to the methods used to ensure that results are valid and not influenced by bias or occurring by chance. (Glasofer & Townsend, 2019). The quantitative data will show that the adjustments made have increased the success rate of the student’s competency levels.
