Abstract

Objective To investigate nursing countermeasures of uterine artery embolization (UAE) in treating intractable postpartum hemorrhage(PPH). Methods From September 2010 to October 2012, a total of 30 cases with intractable PPH underwent UAE were included into this study. All the cases had ineffective treatment by anti-shock, expansion, bleeding and other conservative therapy. The clinical effects of operation and nursing countermeasures were observed. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of West China Second University Hospital. Informed consent was obtained from all participates. Results The operation time was (32-87) min, and the operation successful rate was 100.00% (30/30), and all the patients reserved uterus successfully. Among 30 cases, bleeding were successfully controlled in 28 cases (93.33%), no serious complications happened within 7 days after operation. Conclusions UAE is a safe and effective therapeutic measure for treating intractable PPH, which is helpful for the rehabilitation.
