Abstract
Workforce projections published by the RCN this week paint a frightening picture of how the NHS in England is likely to evolve over the next decade. An independent assessment by the UK’s leading nursing workforce expert, James Buchan of Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh, suggests there could be a quarter fewer nurses by 2020 than there are today.
