Abstract

Nursing is not the only profession experiencing the insurmountable fatigue, mental anguish, and ultimate resignation of staff. Amidst the ideas to create healthy work environments and improve morale and resilience, one transformative idea may be to incorporate rituals into daily practice. Adopting, modifying, or creating new rituals may potentiate a sense of belonging, a connection back to the profession’s true purpose: caring for people. The exceptional nurse leader provides the opportunity for a daily therapeutic pause to assuage the chaos, improve engagement, and positively impact staff and patient satisfaction.
