Abstract

Recent developments in health care systems, i. e. budget regulations and strengthening of outpatient care, call for changes in the provision of health care chaplaincy. Changes within church structures and the public standing of church affect the possibility to provide chaplaincy within hospitals and health care. The essay calls for both a fundamental theological foundation of health care chaplaincy and pragmatic and concrete measures.
